Where will The 2017 Conference take place?

The Energy Grid Cybersecurity Threats & Solutions Conference will take place in Washington, D.C. at the National Academy of Sciences and the Capital Hilton.  Evening events will be held at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the Newseum.

When is The Energy Grid Cybersecurity Conference and when should I arrive?

The conference dates are Friday, March 3 through Sunday, March 5, 2017.  The majority of attendees should plan to arrive by mid-afternoon on Friday, March 3.  The conference ends at 12:00pm on Sunday, March 5, 2017.  Invitation-only meetings for Siebel Energy Institute affiliates will start on the morning of Friday, March 3. Details will be shared early in January 2017.

When can I register?

Formal, hard copy invitations will be sent in the mail in early January. Official registration will open mid-January 2017.

Are there registration fees for the conference?

There is no formal registration fee as this is an invitation-only event.  Airfare and travel expenses will be paid for Siebel Scholars in the classes 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

How can I book a hotel reservation? What are the hotel rates?

Booking a reservation will be made through the registration process beginning in January.  The host hotel is the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036.  The room rate is $259 per night for standard deluxe king or double rooms.

Which airport should I fly into?

Washington DC has 2 options:

  • Reagan National (DCA) Airport is located just across the Potomac River in Virginia and is the closest airport to DC and the Capital Hilton.
  • Dulles (IAD) Airport is located 26 miles from DC in suburban Virginia.

Will transportation be provided?

Yes, there will be shuttle service between the hotel and various venues during the conference.  Also, transportation to and from the airport will be provided on Friday, March 3rd and on Sunday March 5th only.  Specific time periods will apply.

What is the weather like in March in Washington DC?

In early March, daytime high temperatures tend to in the lower 50s f (about 11C) and overnight low temperatures in the low to mid 30s f (0-2C) with a few mornings dropping down into the mid-20s f (-3C) or lower.

What if I have special needs such as dietary restrictions or allergies?

What is the recommended conference attire?

Dress:  Friday evening – cocktail/business attire, Business casual for panel sessions, presentations and breakfasts, Saturday evening – casual attire.

Can I bring a colleague?

The conference is invitation only.  If you would like a colleague to attend the conference, you can request that we include their name and credentials on a wait list and see if space becomes available as we get closer to the date. The conference will be Live Streamed so your colleagues can attend virtually.

What do I tell my colleagues about the accessing the Live Stream?

Many of the conference proceedings will be available via live video stream. Colleagues and guests will be able to register for a video access password in January when event registration opens up. Additionally, recommendations produced during the conference will be available on the conference website afterwards.

Can I bring a guest such as my significant other?

Unfortunately, guests (significant others, friends and children) are not be permitted to attend any conference activities as the event has doubled in size for our Scholars over the last few years.

Is there an age minimum?

You must be at least 21 years of age to attend the conference.

What is the common language spoken at The 2017 Conference?

The official language of the conference is English. All sessions will be presented in English. Translation services will not be provided.

How do I request a visa invitation?

You can request a visa invitation letter to assist in obtaining your visa to attend the conference. You must register for the conference prior to requesting a visa invitation. Please contact us and provide the following information:
